The Resurgence Support Payment (RSP) is an initiative introduced by the New Zealand government that aims to support viable businesses or organisations in the event that the COVID-19 alert level moves to level 2 or higher.
If your business is facing a reduction in income due to a recent alert level increase, you may be eligible for the RSP.
When the COVID-19 national alert level is increased from level 1 for seven days or more, the government may decide to activate the Resurgence Support Payment. Once the RSP has been activated, it will be available nationally, even if the alert level isn’t across the whole country. The RSP will remain open for 1 month after the return to level 1.
Once the RSP is activated, eligible businesses can apply to receive the lesser of:
· $1,500 plus $400 per full-time equivalent employee, up to a maximum of 50 full-time equivalent employees.
· Four times the actual revenue drop experienced by the applicant.
To see if your business is eligible to receive the RSP, you can visit the Inland Revenue website.
It's also possible that the Government could decide to activate the RSP multiple times if there are multiple alert level increases from level 1. Businesses and organisations can apply for the RSP each time it's activated, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.
